I Can’t Imagine My Life Without God

I can’t imagine my life without God.  I don’t want to ever feel differently.  Even though terrible things happen, they are the fault of people. Some may say, “How could God let this happen.”  But God can never be responsible for the evil that is perpetrated by people.  It is people that cause these things to happen.  All we can control in this life is our own behavior.  And our behavior can either harm or help any situation in which we may find ourselves.

If enough people believe in the goodness of humanity, this may not be the ultimate answer to any problem, but it is a step in the right direction.  Striving to be such a person may only be one small action in the scheme of things.  But all any one person can do is control one’s own actions.  And it does make a difference even if we can’t see it.  Believing in the good can never do harm, but may be a catalyst for even great things to happen.

A person does not need to believe in God to be a force for good in this world.  Belief in God is a gift.  It is unlikely that any person would  believe in anything without being exposed to it.  We are all born into different families, with different beliefs or even no beliefs.  That is where our life begins.  What happens after that is usually determined  by our parents and/or other adults that come into our lives.

Belief in God is a gift.  And I believe in the goodness of humanity.  One does not have to believe in God to be a good person. And people can believe in God and still do horrible things.  But as for me, no matter what may happen, I can’t imagine my life without God.

I agree that one does not need to proclaim a belief in God to be good. However, I think that good acts and intentions are behaviors and thoughts that flow from that part of each of us that is God like. I subscribe to a belief that we are formed in God’s image and we each have a bit of God in each of us. When we allow our energy to flow through that God like part of us, it often results in a behavior that is synonymous with what most of us call “good”. That collective, resulting energy is, in large part, what we call God.

I also believe that our thoughts, or intentions that we exude into our environment and our universe are therefore very important and a large part of the collective energy of God. It certainly gives a new meaning to God being our savior. Our salvation is found in our collective energy that we choose to flow through the part of ourselves that is God like. We collectively call that being “good”.

It begs the question, What happens when we are not good and kind to ourselves? Are we indeed staunching the flow of energy that we devote to God? Are we blocking the “blessings” that come from the belief in God and good? Are we reducing the energy that we contribute to that collective God flow of energy? I believe we are. I propose that being good to ourselves is a part of the collective good and can not be ignored. Being good to yourself is not only important to one’s ability to good but also to one’s ability to produce the energy to be good to others. We must take care of ourselves to be able to take care of others. We can’t neglect ourselves or negate our own needs without it effecting our ability to produce the energy we devote to good.

Thank you so much Mary. Your response is exactly what I was hoping would happen. Conversations about this are not always easy to have with others. I appreciate it more than you know.
